About Dorset Power Tools

Tools have changed a lot since 1978. Knowing how to keep them working hasn't.

Dorset Power Tools has been part of Melbourne's tool industry since 1978.

Originally located on Dorset Road — which is where the Dorset name began — the business has changed hands over the years, but its focus on tools, machinery and repairs has remained.

In 2020, Anthony became the third owner of Dorset Power Tools, taking over the business from Steve and continuing more than four decades of specialist knowledge and service.

Meet Anthony

Anthony is a light engine mechanic by trade and has spent most of his adult life repairing power tools, machinery and outdoor power equipment.

He's joined at Dorset by his father, Michael, making it very much a hands-on family operation.

Between them, you'll usually find someone who can help work out what's wrong, whether something is worth repairing, or what you actually need for the job.

More than just a tool shop

We support all trades, from builders and carpenters to electricians, plumbers, landscapers, mechanics and everyone in between.

Alongside repairs and servicing, we supply power tools, machinery and a broad range of accessories and consumables to help keep you working — whether that's blades, bits, abrasives or the everyday gear that gets used, worn out and replaced.

Because we repair and work with tools ourselves, our advice comes from practical experience. If you're not sure what you need, bring in the tool, tell us what you're trying to do, or just ask.

And if repairing something makes more sense than replacing it, we'll tell you that too.

Still Dorset. Still about tools.

More than 45 years after the doors first opened, Dorset Power Tools continues to support tradies, businesses and home users across Melbourne with tools, accessories, repairs and practical advice.

Whether you need a tool repaired, you're looking for the right accessory for a job, or you simply want advice from someone who knows what they're talking about, come and see us.
